Felton, Claude - 2005
Claude Felton has served 25 years in the Georgia Athletic Association. When Vince Dooley became Athletic Director, the first person he hired was Claude Felton. He has held many important positions since that time. During his career, he has served as media coordinator for 17 NCAA National Championship events and was the host information director for the 1977 NCAA Final Four Basketball Tournament in Atlanta. He served on the press liaison staff for the U.S. Olympic Committee at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and was the press Venue Chief for the soccer venue at the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games. He also served as chairman of the Ethics Committee of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) from 1985-1991 and chairman of the Olympic Liaison Committee from 1992-1995. He was inducted into the CoSIDA Hall of Fame in 2001. Felton is currently a member of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four Media Coordination Committee. A native of Savannah, Georgia and a graduate of Savannah High School, Claude Felton is an important part of UGA’s Athletic history and has been recognized as one of the top five sports information directors in the country.
