Earl Coxon - Coaching, 2018
Earl Coxon has been a fixture in Savannah youth sports for more than 30 years, volunteering his time a coach, assistant coach, mentor, fundraiser and advocate to make sure Savannah’s young men and women have opportunities to grow, learn and compete through athletics. Earl coach football and basketball for the Police Athletic League beginning in the 1980s, and has coached football, basketball and baseball at the Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club for more than three decades. As a football and basketball coach, he won city, county, region and national championships, but, more importantly, through the years Earl provided financial support to players and teams to ensure children had uniforms and other equipment. His commitment and dedication made him an honoree at the Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club 12th Annual Meritorious Service Awards Luncheon in 2015, and his contributions to youth sports have made him an unforgettable figure in Savannah sports.
