Booker, Ronald - 2004
Ronald Booker was the basketball coach of the Beach High Lady Bulldogs for more than twenty five years. He has won over 600 games, including fourteen sub-region B titles and fourteen 3-AAAA Region Championships. The Bulldogs have won six Christmas Invitational Tournaments and eight consecutive Joe Green Tip-Off Tournaments. In 2000, Booker’s team captured the GHSA AAAA State Championship, bringing the first AAAA state title to Savannah. The Beach High Lady Bulldogs have been ranked one of the top ten teams in the state over twenty times. Coach Booker has been named the Savannah Area Coach of the Year twelve times, was the Georgia State Female Prep Coach in 200, and was Beach’s Teacher of the Year in 1995. He is the only person to have been elected into the Beach High School Athletic Hall of Fame as an athlete and a Citation Honoree. Booker has also coached softball and volleyball teams during his career. His Beach High Lady Bulldogs won the Girl’s City Softball Championship in 1983 and 1985; and his volleyball teams won city titles in 1984 and 1985. Coach Booker not only teaches his girls athletic skills, but skills to be successful in life as well. Forty-one of his girls have gone on to play college basketball. He is an outstanding coach, an excellent teacher, and a distinguished man of character.
