Charlie Hendricks - Football, 2025

Charlie Hendricks loved football. He was a standout defensive tackle on the ’65 Savannah High team that won the region championship with a 10-0 record, and a multi-time winner of the Savannah Gridiron’s Club Player of the Week award. After two seasons with the semi-pro Savannah Indians, his love for football led him to Missouri Southern State, where he was named All-District NAIA while winning a national title in 1972. After college, Hendricks returned home to Savannah and stayed involved in football as a player-coach for the Savannah Indians.
