Tommy Brennan - 2008
Tommy Brennan was a 1962 graduate of Benedictine. Tommy lettered in football and played for coach Vic Mell. Tommy was All-City and All-State in football. He received numerous awards which included the Savannah Quarterback Club "Back of the Year," the Sears Tropjhy for the city's best amateur athlete, and the Ashley Dearing Award for the most versitle athletic in the city. Tommy was recognized as the Savannah News-Press "Back of the Year' and the Rappe Lineman of the year. Tommy attended the University of Southern Mississippi on a football scholarship and was a starter for three years. His senior year at USM the defense was ranked number one in the country. Highlights of Tommy's college career include a pivotal role in USM's 3-0 upset of Auburn when he intercepted three passes and knocked down two others. In another game against Louisiana Tech, Tommy returned two punts for touchdowns. After graduation, Tommy went on to coach and teach at Benedictine as swell as for Chatham and Effingham County school systems.
