McDonough, Jack (Football, 1966) McDonough, a former Savannah High and Georgia Tech football athlete, was a charter inductee of the Greater Savannah Athletic Hall of Fame. On the gridiron, he directed the Savannah High School football team as quarterback from 1915-19; and he was captain of the team his senior year. After his prep career, McDonough went on to play for Georgia tech as a regular for four years, earning All-Southern recognition. Upon finishing his career at Tech, he returned to Savannah to coach football and taught mathematics at Savannah High. He also gained distinction as one of the state’s leading civic and business leaders, serving as president and later chairman of the Georgia Power Company. McDonough holds the top Georgia Tech Alumni honor – the Distinguished Service Award.
