Maree, Vance - Football, 1967
Maree began his athletic career at Savannah High School, playing football, basketball, and basetball from 1924-26. He then moved on to play for Georgia Tech under Coach Bill Alexander. A member of Tech’s All-Time and All-Star football teams, Maree won national fame as a sophomore on the unbeaten 1928 team. He was honorable mention All-American tackle in 1928 and was selected to the All-Southern team three consecutive years (1928-30). Maree played in the 1929 Rose Bowl for the Yellow Jackets. Standing 6’2” and weighing 220-240 pounds, Maree also excelled in basketball for three years and boxing for one during his collegiate career at Tech.
