Hendrix, Jerry - Bowling, 1979

Hendrix shattered local and state bowling records along the path of his illustrious bowling career. In 1974, he won first at the Georgia All-Star Tournament. Two years later, he took first in the “All-Events” scratch and handicap, setting a new city record.
In 1978, he earned first place honors in the “250” Masters Tournament in Augusta (214 points average per game), the Georgia State Men’s Tournament (742 scratch of 3380 team total), and the Men’s City Tournament Doubles, in which he and partner Tommy Thompson combined for a score of 1844. Also in 1976, Hendrix set a state record 3251 scratch in the city tournament, earning another city doubles title.
The win at Augusta made Hendrix the second person ever to win two Masters titles (earlier won in 1973). He also captured his second Georgia All-Star crown in 1978 (208 points average per game) and made the first Georgia All-Star team six times through 1978.
