Harmon, Claude - Golf, 1967
The highlight of Harmon’s golfing career came in 1958, when he captured the Masters with a record score of 279. He served as the professional at Winged Foot Club in Mamatoneck, NY; and twice played the rugged course in 1961, the second time with eight birdies and an eagle in succession. Harmon also served as the professional at the Thunderbird Club in Palm Springs, California where he gathered the greatest array of golf talent for his staff. At the age of seven, Harmon shot a 59-50-109. He entered professional play at the age of nineteen and played for years on the PGA tour.
