Hagan, Harold “Bo” - Football, 1969
Hagan began his athletic career at Savannah High where he exhibited immense athletic talent. After graduating in 1944, Hagan served in the armed forces before attending the University of South Carolina on a scholarship. While there, he led the nation in punting. Hagan turned in tours as an assistant coach at Georgia Tech under Bobby Dodd and at Southern Methodist before accepting an assistant position at Rice under Jess Neely, who later retired and suggested him for the head coaching job. It was in this position that Hagan gained most of his national fame before moving on the serve as Athletic Director for the University of South Carolina.
