Coleman, Jr., J. Thomas - Football, 1971
A veteran of the 1947 Oil Bowl and 1948 Orange Bowl, Coleman played football at Benedictine Military School and Georgia Tech. While at Benedictine, Coleman played as a tackle and fullback on the 1943-45 teams. He also caught and played centerfield for the school’s 1944-45 baseball squads.
Coleman played four season of football at Georgia Tech from 1946-49 and competed on the 1949-50 Yellow Jackets’ wrestling team. He went on to captain the 1949 football squad in his final year. Coleman is a former city alderman and chairman of the Chatham County Commission.
