Quattlebaum,Sr., Dr. Julian K. - 1976
Dr. Quattlebaum was an outstanding baseball athlete in his early years. He has been a booster of high school and collegiate sports, and was effective in helping the University of Georgia recruit athletes in the Savannah area.
Still, Dr. Quattlebaum’s primary contributions have been his research into the history of auto racing in Savannah. He is the author of a book on the Greater Savannah Races of 1908, 1909, and 1911 – a valuable piece of history on the early days of Vanderbilt Cup racing.
