Oliver, F. Hemans “Goat” - 1982

Oliver was a long-time coach and educator in Savannah, serving the needs of high school youths for thirty five years. After playing varsity football for three years at Georgia Teacher’s College (now Georgia Southern University), he began his coaching career at Savannah High School in 1937. His duties included coaching freshman football, girls basketball, and assisting in varsity football.
Oliver then moved to Commercial High School, where he continued the athletic programs as head coach and started their first football program. In 1952, he left the field of coaching to become a principal. Oliver remained in the administrative field until his retirement in 1973.
