Thompson, Terri - Golf, 2001
Terri Thompson attended Savannah Country Day School and excelled in golf and basketball. In 1987, she was the Savannah News-Press female basketball “Player of the Year” and was selected as the winner of the Lawton M. Calhoun Award as the “Athlete of the Year” a year later. Thompson had an outstanding prep career and won a number of tournaments during this period. She was an American Junior Golf Association All-American in 1985-88. After graduation, Thompson played golf at the University of Southern California, where she I was a member of the 1989 PAC-10 Conference Champions, 1989 All-PAC-10 team and selected as an NCAA All-American. She later transferred to the University of Tulas, where she received the same honors and served as the Leader of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee in 1991-92. During her career, Thompson qualified for the U.S. Women’s Open five times: in 1988, 1990 and 1991 as an amateur and in 1992 and 1995 as a professional. She was an LPGA tour final stage qualifier from 1992-96. She was an Asian and Swedish tour member in 1993 and a European tour member in 1993 and 1996. In 1994, Thompson was also an LPGA tour member.
