Baker, Reginald - Baseball, Basketball, 1968

A star basketball player at Benedictine Military School, Baker won the World’s Basketball Free Throw Championship, sinking 73 of 75 shots at the basket, at age seventeen in 1929. Baker was also a baseball athlete. He played for Connie Mack’s Philadelphia Athletics of the American League and pitched for several years in the minor leagues. Baker later became a member of the 1935 Savannah Indians, a team that included greats Bob Elliott and Nick Etten.
